The Resistance Banker

Walraven van Hall, a Dutch banker, played a truly memorable role in the resistance against Nazism during the occupation of the Netherlands. I highly recommend watching the movie based on his life during this period. He proved, for the future—which is now our present—that it is possible to maintain exhaustive control over all available funds, even in times of war. He demonstrated that the words "corruption" and "illicit enrichment" were simply not in his vocabulary. I do not know if this is common in other territories, past or present. He was executed shortly before the war ended.
